Volunteering
I'm glad to say that I have spent some free time of mine helping other companies and studies progress in completing projects and racing out to people to expand the world and studies of Geology!
Let's walk through some of my experiences doing so!
Geo Convention 2023
Working at Geconvention 2023 in Calgary Alberta may have been the most eye-opening job for seeing the new outlook there is in the field of geosciences.
I was able to participate in setting up different projects for companies and float around the building as security. Because of this, I could listen to all different types of presentations and studies that add new information to the ever more evolving world of our science. Meeting new companies and recruiters was very interesting and gave me the chance to network like I have never done before. If there's one thing I know, it's that I am going back next year!
2nd Year Class Representative for MRU & Joli Fou Geological Society
Beginning my second year with my friends and classmates, I decided to start a journey as the class representative.
This helped me become more proactive in our Geological Society in MRU "Joli Fou".
I was in charge of helping put together different events to get my class more aware of opportunities with geological-focused companies and associations that could benefit us in the long run, such as joining CSEG, APEGA, AAPG, and more!
This also helped me grow a stronger connection with my professors as I was the representative that could help my class's voice be heard!
APEGA Rocks & Fossils Event in MRU 2022
Participating in APEGA's Rocks & Minerals Event was definitely a great experience!
During that day, I was able to inspire kids and parents of all ages to continue their love for learning about different rocks, minerals, and fossils. With the help of other students and professors, we taught them all types of fossils, the formation of rocks, and how to pan for gold!
It was a privilege to see all the kids get excited about the topic I love!
